Lions and monkeys and bears, oh my!

While in the middle of my last post I came across this old video Kristen and I made a few years ago.
It's really silly but made fond memories flood over me and like always,
it came at the perfect time.
Perfect does not always mean good.
But God's time is of course perfect whether we enjoy what's happening or not.
Even that statement though could be broken down more but now is not the time.
Basically, it was good as well as perfect and I needed it.
Watch and enjoy but I give you fair warning...it's lame. lol
I really can't stress that enough.
You can hear Kris and I talking if you listen closely (especially at the end)

What you might find in Rusk, Tx

Welcome to Rusk, Tx

You won't see things like this in the big city.

No, views like these can only be found in the intimate parts of this small southern town.

This is the Rusk Footbridge.

It is the longest footbridge in the nation at 546 feet.

During our town’s early years, before streets connected a residential area with the downtown business district,

the bridge served as a means to cross a small valley when the creek flooded.

This and most of the pictures to follow were taken at the Rusk State Park.

Home of the historic Texas State Rail Road.

Up until a few years ago you could do some pretty good fishing in that lake.
Now it's just something nice to look at.

You never know what you will find along the parks many nature trails.

Taken just off the pavilion next to the lake.

More to come....

I don't normally post things like this but here goes....

A college professor, an avowed atheist and active in the ACLU, was teaching his class. He shocked several of his students when he flatly stated that once and for all he was going to prove there was no God.

Addressing the ceiling he shouted: "GOD, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform.

I'll give you exactly 15 minutes!!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Ten minutes went by.

" I'm waiting God, if you're real knock me off this platform!"

Again after 4 minutes, the professor taunted God saying, "Here I am, God I'm still waiting"

His count down got down to the last couple of minutes when a SEAL, just released from the Navy after serving in Afghanistan and Iraq and newly registered in the class, walked up to the Professor.

The SEAL hit him full force in the face, and sent the Professor tumbling from his lofty platform.

The Professor was out cold!!

The students were stunned and shocked. They began to babble in confusion.

The SEAL nonchalantly took his seat in the front row and sat silent. The class looked at him and fell silent... waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to and was noticeably shaken.

He looked at the SEAL in the front row.

When the professor regained his senses and could speak he asked: "What is the matter with you? Why did you do that?

"God was really busy, protecting America's soldiers, who are protecting your right to say whatever stupid thing comes to your mind. So he sent me!!"

A few key points....

  1. I do not agree with the part about God being too busy. He is never too busy!
  2. You cannot expect things to be done by God in your time frame. It just doesn't work that way. God's timing is perfect.
  3. It's never a good idea to taunt God!
  4. This is why I love SEALs so much. Now, do I think this actually happened? No way. I think it is safe to say a SEAL would have more control. But it does show that SEAL attitude I am so drawn to.

I hope Caleb makes it through his SEAL training. I've never met a man I thought seemed more like SEAL material. He would be amazing. It's like he was born for it and everything he has done or gone through in life is in preparation for it. It's so cool.

Retirement for Farve lasted about as long as the funeral Jesse Jackson gave for the N word. I'm just saying...

The Brett Favre era in Green Bay is now over. What are your thoughts?
Mine...
Just because he's old by professional league standards doesn't mean he should be automatically counted out of the running for great QB. He might be finished with GB but his football days are not over. Now, if he really is as much like Joe Montana as I think he is then yes, his career is drawing closer to an end but only time will tell for sure.

Regardless, he is back and bringing with him to the Jets a fresh wave of skill and electricity despite his age and the doubts that follow him.
I wasn't very keen on him coming back this year but now that he has for sure decided to I'm pleased he got traded. GB wasn't going to be very fair to him and I didn't like the idea of that. At least with the Jets he will be sure to have as much playing time as he wants cause didn't they just get rid of one of their QBs? Chad Pennington.

About time really...have you watched him lately? Last season for example, he had almost as many INTs as he did TD passes. (I'll check my facts later but I think I'm right.)
I don't really think Pennington has been the same after all those injuries a few years ago. It was time for this kid to go.
Now, is Favre the guy to replace him? Well, the Jets certainly think so.
As for me, I'm not so sure but we shall see.

They have another QB but his name escapes me so I can't give stats or an opinion on him. I think they will play Favre more though. Everyone seems pretty set on the idea of him being the starting QB for NY. He will be pleased, no doubt on getting to continue his record of 'Most Consecutive Starts by a QB' (253 & counting).
Its really no surprise he has that many starts considering his skill level and the sheer fact that he has been playing in the NFL since before I was born almost.
This dude is old by professional league standards but hey, more power to him. I commend him for giving it another shot.
But will round two be even better than the first? Again, time will only tell.

Good luck to the guys in NY.
But not too much!
I still want this to be the year for my 'Boys! :)

Marcus Luttrell + Lone Survivor + Hollyweird = A Very Amazing Movie!

Say what? Hollywood wants to make a movie from a book that doesn't call George Bush a Nazi or posit America's ill-conceived foreign policy? Is that even possible in Today's Hollywood? But apparently yes, (it's about freaking time) which explains why Hollywood is in a frenzy to snatch the movie rights to former Navy SEALs Marcus Luttrell's book, "Lone Survivor". The full title of the book is, "Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes Of SEAL Team 10″, and chronicles the real-life story of Luttrell and his SEALS unit as they are ambushed in Afghanistan, leaving only Luttrell the sole survivor, hence the title.

More about "Lone Survivor":

According to The Washington Post review, it's the true story of American heroism and Afghani humanity, of morality vs survival. In June 2005, Petty Officer turned combat-trained Navy SEAL Luttrell led a four-man team into the mountains of Afghanistan on a mission to kill a Taliban leader thought to be allied with Osama bin Laden. On foot, the SEALs encountered two adult men and a teenage boy. A debate broke out as to whether the trio should be summarily executed to keep them from alerting the Taliban. Luttrell opted to spare the Afghanis' lives. About an hour later, the Taliban launched an attack that killed all the SEALs except Luttrell, who was sure that the three Afghanis he let go turned around and betrayed his team.

The book is already a #1 bestseller on the New York Times' non-fiction list, so it's selling like hotcakes.
-----------------------------------------

I am so freaking excited I can hardly contain myself and no, I am not being dramatic. I seriously am that excited! I love Marcus Luttrell like it's my job but I had no idea until this morning his book was being made into a movie.
I want to go out into the streets and dance while singing some song that I would no doubt, make up on the spot.

Something like this perhaps....

"Marcus' movie will be better than yours

do da do da

He is so cool, He is so cool

do da do da day"

Yeah, no. That was gay but like I said, I'm FREAKIN EXCITED!!!

You should go read Lone Survivor then watch the movie with me! If the movie is crap then hey, if nothing else you will no doubt have been entertained by me, at the very least, as I watch the movie. I'M SO EXCITED!!!
EXCITED,

EXCITED,
EXCITED!!!!!!!!
And you should be too! :)

Hollyweird is [finally] going to produce a decent movie that [for once] doesn't bash America.

And seriously, this movie HAS to be like greatness of mass proportions. Just think about it for a second.
Like, I've never seen the movie or read a word of the script but really, tell me who would even think for a second about making a movie about a Navy SEAL as anything but positive and praiseworthy?!A Navy SEAL is a pure badass and it's probably not wise to push buttons. You wouldn't even know an attack was coming and if they wanted to get you back for a bad movie about them, I feel certain they could and no one would have a friggin' clue.

This movie will be great!! hahaha
It just has to be!
And I love that!

A few lines not even worth writing in the sand

This smile you see is full of life;
my eyes forever gleaming.
These ears will never hear your words
that have no solid meaning.

Take notice this day I shall love no more!
For you have shaken my very core
With thoughts of you I will never win
With thoughts of you I've reached my end

My heart is light;
My mind so pure.
These toughts of you cannot endure

Like I said, these aren't even worth writing in the sand but I wanted to have a typed copy of them somewhere and this perhaps is proof that every now and then I do indeed attempt writing on a topic outside of an ideal fairy tale love.

But! That's not to say I've stopped that either
On this day I simply took a breather

umm...yeah, no.
I think it's time call it quits for the day. lol
That was probably about the lamest thing I've ever wrote. Seriously.

But just for the heck of it let me try and top it... hang on.

Oh, I've got it.

I need no man to bring this smile
But wouldn't mind it all the while.
Perhaps one day my prince will come
I will take notice; I am not dumb.

Yeah, I do believe I've opened up new levels of gayness today with my writing. lol
But I'm okay with that.
Off to bed.
